One more movie left for this marathon as I’ve already seen The Last and the Boruto movie. I also feel like a certain element of the ending is a bit of a rip-off of the end of the rescue Gaara arc.
Some of the darker elements are interesting and add to the atmosphere while others seem out of place. Some might find the movie too dark and others consider that to be its biggest strength, I’m somewhere in the middle. There’s a twist concerning the villain of the movie that I certainly didn’t see coming and is part of what makes this one of the darker Naruto movies. Like most Naruto movies there are original characters that Naruto gets to know over the course of the film. Also whenever Naruto uses sage mode his red cloak just appears like it’s part of the transformation, I don’t mind this as I really like this outfit for Naruto but it’s really silly when Naruto’s cloak just disappears when sage mode wears off. So Naruto can use sage mode and has met Killer B yet none of the damage done to Konoha in the Pain arc is visible and Naruto is still handing around in Konoha at the start of the movie instead of training with B while everyone else prepares for war. Although it is debatable where Naruto: Shippuuden Movie 5 - Blood Prison is set in the timeline of the main series due to confusing story elements, it is likely to fall somewhere after episode 220 during the 'Fourth Shinobi World War: Countdown' and 'Paradise Life on a Boat' arcs.
As the title suggests this is a prison break movie which is a very different formula for a Naruto movie.
